It’s a new year!
Hello dear blogosphere. I know I have neglected you for the past year ever since my previous blog’s host went down (libre lang naman kase). And now that its the start of 2011, I figured why not make a dramatic comeback? Well here I am. And hopefully to stay a whole lot longer (since this hosting’s now paid).
A lot has happened to me for the past year that I’ve left you. Lots of new blessings, new friends and colleagues, and lots of learning. For the past year of not blogging, I can enumerate some noteworthy “new’s” I’ve come around.
- I’ve learned photography. Not that clear and crisp SLR photography that’s been making mainstream for quite some time now, but rather the strangely occult world of lomography. It all happened when one client of ours left one peculiar business card which caught my attention. It was one filled with tiny thumbnails of little lomo self-portrait pictures. And so I googled what the heck was it and found out that a LOMO-LCA camera was the culprit. I found out it was an cheap (compared to an SLR) analog camera capable of taking pictures with that eerie “sentimental effect” as what I used to call it at that time. And since it was analog, it uses film! I was kind of thrown off knowing that since film can be a pocket burner (so it’s cheaper than an SLR eh?) say for example you take that LOMO-LCA to a cam-whoring session?! And so I googled once more. Is there such a thing as digital lomography? Fair enough, I’ve found some decent results with my oh so mighty googling skills. Alas! after much deliberation, I am now a proud owner of a VQ-1015 Entry, a tiny keychain camera meant to take the lomo spirit into the world of ones and zeroes. Do visit my lomo ventures at http://flickr.com/xyryx if you have some time. And for a sample, here’s my own self-portrait shot:
- With my new awesome camera at hand, I also wanted to visit other places here in the Philippines. And so I did! I went to the beautiful cities of Cebu and Bohol summer last year and wow! A lot of firsts for me added up during that trip! It was my first time to ride a plane and a cruise ship. It was my first time visiting a faraway place that’s new to me. My first tour ever also! My first time seeing a tarsier (duh? first time in Bohol nga eh?) And alot more!
- With that vacation over, I quit my current job at that time soon after (oo! sakto pagkatapos magbakasyon en-grande). It was all part of us growing in our chosen careers and so I decided to move on (to a different company). It was really of short notice so I left a lot of unfinished business there.
- I moved to a new company 2 days after I resigned from my previous work. It was a bit scary at first since I moved to a bigger company with lots more people. But gradually over time, I began to get the hang of it. I really learned a lot ever since I came here. i never expected my career growth plan to come this early but the new adventures just unfolded their seeds of knowledge one after another. I handle API communications here. And that experience has thought me a whole lot really. I never even imagined in my whole web developer career that I could be in this kind of work. But so it was.
My 2010 came with a blast! And I hope for the better this 2011 if ever its my last 2 years before 2012 ends the world. Lol! Haha!
